Purpose of Job
An Artisan Analyser Mechanician supports production by providing effective equipment maintenance and reliability while adhering to procedures/codes, and utilising all available support resources to increase stability and maintain sustainability of the plant
Key Accountabilities
Proven competence in pre-identified areas per discipline of the plant/mine/equipment/systems.
Utilize the plant maintenance documentation system you understand.

Recognize the work management system for planning. Relevant plant/mine specific/basic process knowledge.
Compliance of Safety Management Systems e.g. IMS, MBO, etc.
able to follow procedures in an emergency.

Read, interpret, and implement task risk assessment.
Risk assessments of tasks and hazards.

takes part in morning meetings every day to discuss work assignments.

By meeting deadlines, you can help the business achieve its goals and vision.

Provides adequate feedback to supervisor on work progress.
Participates in root cause analyses, and provides feedback to RCA teams.
participates in risk assessments to improve safety in accordance with company and legal requirements. Maintains good housekeeping and adheres to waste disposal procedures.
Share knowledge with junior artisans in known environment/context.
Participates in quarterly performance appraisal with group leader to improve personal development.
Identifies personal training and development needs, and incorporates into PDP with group leader’s approval.
Set an example by living it.

Assists with the development of works instructions to develop a higher level of staff competency.
Take charge of team projects and efforts.

Able to act as group leader (if appropriate to career path).
Contribute to overall maintenance strategy and direction.
Mentor learners/artisans informally.
Conducts My IMS (physical inspections to maintain and improve plant sustainability).
Work effectively in a team.
participates in and interacts with PDAs and RCAs to enhance plant stability and safety.

gives the leader of the group or the planning officer sufficient feedback on how the work is going.

Ensures the correct history feedback is captured to improve renewals/ upgrades and critical spares are replaced.
Gives input at toolbox talks to improve plant safety.
Formal Education
Trade Certificate NQF 4 (Instrumentation Preferred)
Work Experience
2 Years’ experience as a Senior Artisan to become a Specialist Artisan
2 Years’ experience as an Artisan Grade 1 Artisan to become a Senior Artisan
To become an Artisan Grade 1, you must have completed 18 months as an Artisan Grade 2.
